More about Becky and Sarah

Becky

I’m a married mother of two youngish children (pre-teen and younger) and have been trying to find “green” products to use at home.

This all started when the kids were younger and I began to worry about the chemicals in baby products, cleaning products, sunscreen – ok you get the drift.

When I realized babies really do put everything in their mouths, finding green products became more important. I also believe very strongly in buying Canadian wherever possible.

I am also cheap. Very, very cheap. I am willing to spend money on things I think are worth it, but am always mindful of cost and look for ways to keep them under control. Ideally, I look for reasonably priced made in Canada products that contain more natural ingredients than the regular products we tend to buy.

As you can imagine, it’s been a challenge! I’m constantly on the lookout for new products and great finds.

Sarah

I am a single woman and auntie to two very active and occasionally demanding children.

I became interested in lower waste products a number of years ago after becoming increasingly frustrated with the amount of plastic recycling I was throwing away each week. After reading a few articles about how the majority of plastic we think is being recycled is actually ending up in the landfill, I decided to make a more active approach to my reducing waste.

With this mindset, I also became increasingly more interested in eco-friendly practices and products, especially those manufactured in Canada by Canadians.

Like Becky, I am also pretty frugal, but do find I am willing to spend slightly (but only slightly) more on eco-friendly alternatives to mainstream items. Through a few years of researching companies, and trial and error, I have created a list of good and not so good products.

I am always on the hunt for new options and new ways to reduce my waste consumption, but in a way that is attainable and sustainable.
